The new Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations (2020) have come into force. They require Landlords to have the Electrical Installations in their properties inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, at least every 5 years (or at change of tenant)
Landlords will need to provide a copy of the Electrical Safety Report (called an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)) to their tenants and to the Local Authority where requested.
There will also be a legal duty on landlords to ensure that, where an EICR confirms a sub-standard (reported as Unsatisfactory) installation, any defects are rectified in a timely manner (usually within 28 days or sooner where the inspecting engineer recommends it).
Whilst many Landlords and Letting Agencies already carry out electrical safety checks on their properties there will be a significant number who have either not carried them out or are out of date for such a test.
Here at Accolade Electrical we have over 15 years experience of carrying out domestic electrical safety checks. We are an Approved NICEIC Contractor with suitably qualified engineers to inspect and test all types of domestic installations. We are also a Part P Approved Contractor able to undertake any required improvement works and notify these to the Local Authority.
Prices start from just £140 plus VAT* and we aim to have any certification completed and returned to the customer within 48 hours of inspection.
